I found a couple good pairs of jeans, a few maternity tank tops, and wore lots of cardigans. But I didn't live in NY in the summer. :(
Maybe some maxi dresses/skirts? Usually you don't even need to get maternity sizes for those, and in your final days of pregnancy, they will be a godsend (esp on Sundays).
Yeah, I lived in maxi dresses in the summer and toward the end. Target usually has some cute ones in their maternity section, I have one that I still wear now. I found a couple pairs of clearance maternity pants/jeans and cut them off into shorts. Oversized button-ups or dresses from thrift stores that I could throw a belt over. And I had one of those belly band things so I didn't buy any maternity jeans. I remember how ugly most maternity clothes are though so I understand. I guess I mostly stuck to things that weren't specifically maternity, just big. And I'm glad I didn't invest too much in them because by the end I hated most of them. Good luck!
I just committed to granny pants, oversized tops, and a super thin materialed pencil skirt. My mum got my Topshop maternity jeans, which, if you can get on sale, are good, because they don't make you feel as frumpy as those jeans with the massive jersey thing on the top, and I wore them after I had the baby too. They don't look like maternity clothes.
ugh. i feel you. i probably had it easier because i needed lots of layers for winter, but for summer...yes, anything airy and big. my sister-in-law has a style blog and she is due in a month: http://www.lipstickandlollies.blogspot.com/ -- maybe you can get some inspiration there. i'd say a shirt or dress is particularly good if it is a button down or has a stretchy neckline, so that it can function later when you need easy, nursing-friendly tops. good luck ~ xoxo
my favorite outfits were maternity ones! Target has a great selection now. The hard part is what to wear after the baby comes! :) enjoy it- I miss you!!
Yes, Target. I found lovely stuff at Gap (at back of baby section) on clearance that made me feel human at the end. Motherhood Maternity made me cry, the clothes are so bad.
Also, I second that dressing for nursing is also dang hard. I feel like I finally have a groove now, but it was a little ridiculous for awhile.
