For an art project slash life project. When she first looked at herself in the mirror, she wept.
She showed me the video, and told me that there is something very powerful about looking at yourself when you are weeping, or when you are mourning. She said it allows you to feel empathy for yourself: it allows you to love yourself. "Double pain, and double relief too."

Maybe because of this, I documented S and I, seconds after finding out last night's heavy news. I wanted to know what our grief looks like. Suffice it to say that today is another day for pictures and mirror looking.

Electrick Children.
My sister/friend, Becca Lou, is making a movie. I suspect it will be a great movie, because she is passionate, and a great filmmaker. I also know the cinematographers and several of the actresses (plus one actor), and can vouch for them as well.
Here she is, one week after moving to Manhattan for Columbia film school!
Here is a movie poster!

Here is the kickstarter, where you may learn more about the movie and send spare change, to make it even more of a success!

TIMEless.
I helped work on this exhibit, the very tiniest, little bit. Mainly editing preproduction things and a few of the narratives within the catalog. I also spent at least one night installing the art inside the space. (Who knew hanging art on walls could be so hard?)
The theme of the exhibit is a little tricky for me to describe, but deals with time, space, architecture, film, other medias, and interactivity. I recommend watching the promotion below for a clearer idea. The show boasts over 100 pieces of art from over 50 artists--some of whom have awards. Academy Awards. (And likely other kinds.)
If you (yes, you), happen to live in the LA area (or happen to be visiting), you should come to the opening this Thursday, May 26. Or at least check out the website.
There will be yummy treats to boot.

Dance Yrself Clean.
Who: S and maybe 10 to 14 others.
What: Dance Painting. (And Scratchboarding. And Spin Art.)
Where: Somewhere in the vast expanses of LA. (Heaven knows I do not know the name of the place.)
When: Last Friday.
Why: For fun!!!! (And a much needed break from philosophy paper writing.)
It was a most magical night, filled with many more beautiful and delightful things, such as crepe eating, new friendship forming, and dancing around a smallish room, while painting on paper, walls, and people (all sadly un-photographed). Let your imaginations run wild, and in the meantime, enjoy my humble art made pre and post dancing. It might make me overly proud--likely because it is the first art I have created since I was a (middle school) child.
